Beowulf vs. Breca in Swim Match: Who Won?

Breca, a childhood friend of Beowulf's, set to sea for the swim match just eight days ago. Breca and Beowulf engaged in a strange swimming contest where they take on the open sea while wearing full armor and carrying swords, supposedly to defend themselves from sea monsters.

A childhood friend of Beowulf's, Breca, challenged him to a swimming match. The match lasted five night and six days across the ocean. Little did they know, the challenges of this feat would venture far past just swimming across the ocean. It was said by some that Beowulf left him on his own, but that most certainly was not the case. On the third day, a violent storm started to rage. The heavy flow of the currents swept Breca from his side. Beowulf searched and searched for him, but he was no where to be found a source told the Colloquium Crier. The vastness of the ocean had separated them for good. Not too long after losing Breca, Beowulf had a big problem of his own. A large group of sea monsters attacked! He was all on his own against nine vicious sea monsters. After fighting with all of his heart and strength, the mighty Beowulf won the battle.

It's not entirely clear who won this contest, for Unferth suggested to us that Breca actually beat Beowulf. He claims that Breca had washed up on his home shore before Beowulf. Everyone welcomed him with cheer and granted him with the victory. Beowulf claims that he and Breca were shoulder-to-shoulder, equally matched when it came to the swimming part—but that he himself also killed nine sea monsters.

Either a rematch is on order, or the monerous warrior heros will have to share the glory.
